February 11, 2025

A 31-year-old woman arrested during a police raid at the Mead Road housing complex has been charged and is set to appear before the Suva Magistrates Court today.

The accused faces one count of Unlawful Possession of Illicit Drugs after authorities discovered a significant quantity of what is believed to be marijuana at the scene.

The raid, conducted by a joint team from the Southern Division’s Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Department, K9 Unit, and Crime Intelligence Unit, led to the seizure of several large zip lock bags filled with dried leaves and more than 100 branches suspected to be marijuana.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu confirmed that officers also confiscated smoking apparatus and items believed to be stolen.

The raid was part of ongoing efforts to curb drug-related activities and other criminal offences in known high-risk areas.
