The annual wheel barrow race fundraising initiative for the Frank Hilton Organization, known as the Bara Battle, is more than just a race. It has become a commitment from businesses that participate.
And speaking at the launch of the 2025 event, FHO Chief Executive Officer Sureni Perera said the organisation was grateful for the continued support for the event which began in 2016.
“The Frank Hilton Organization is a leading advocate and service provider for children with disabilities, transforming lives through early childhood development, detection intervention and accessible health and education.”
Companies that have registered a team to participate in the event this year include the Marist Brothers Old Boys Association, Bluescope, Vodafone, ANZ Bank, BSP Bank, Telecom Fiji, Harcourts, Permal Construction, Standss, Janty Kanvan, CJ Patel, Extra Supermarket, The Bagel Boys, Goodman Fielder amongst others.
Perera said what FHO receives from the various fundraising has continously sustained operations.
“$80,000 to provide mobility devices to 259 children, $70,000 to support hearing aid access to 226 children, $75,000 to deliver comprehensive therapy to 627 children through community outreach in rural communities, 24-7 care for 13 children with high support needs with no families and training programs for teachers and health care workers.”
“These are just a few areas that are supported by fundraising activities. These life changing services would not be possible without the generosity of donors, sponsors and partners.”
