Water Restored in Colo-i-Suva Village After Pump Sabotage

The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has confirmed that the water supply to Colo-i-Suva Village has been restored after a prolonged disruption caused by a failing pumping system at the Forestry Pump Station.

Repairs completed at 10 pm yesterday were delayed due to suspected sabotage, including unauthorised valve manipulations that disrupted the water supply and damaged the system.

Samuela Rokovaleusa, WAF Regional Manager for Operations in the Central East, met with Colo-i-Suva villager Venina Rokocua today to brief her on the repair efforts.

“I am thankful to the Water Authority of Fiji team for coming to visit us today. The water issues have been happening for almost two weeks. We are very grateful that water is now normalised, and we can do our washing today – we are very thankful to WAF for their commitment and hard work, thank you for coming today and we are thankful to the Fiji Government for listening to our pleas from the Yasuva o Duanuku in Colo-i-Suva Village,” said Rokocua.

WAF teams are scheduled to meet with the village’s Turaga Ni Koro later today to discuss further measures.

The authority has urged residents to cooperate with their operations team to prevent such acts of sabotage in the future and to report any suspicious activities involving WAF assets to the WAF National Contact Centre on 3346777 or shortcode 5777.
