February 18, 2025

Fiji Customs officers have intercepted undeclared ammunition at Nadi International Airport from a passenger arriving on a flight from Los Angeles.

The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) said the discovery was made following targeted risk assessments by frontline officers. The passenger was subsequently referred to the Border Police for further investigation.

FRCS Chief Executive Officer Udit Singh praised the customs officers for their vigilance and described the interception as a significant success in protecting the country’s borders.

“This successful operation highlights our officers’ dedication to protecting our borders and preventing the entry of prohibited or undeclared items,” he said. “We take all border security threats seriously and will continue to enhance our risk assessment and targeting measures.”

Travellers are urged to comply with customs declaration requirements, with authorities warning that strict penalties apply for non-compliance.
