Tourism Fiji Chief Executive Brent Hill will step down at the end of August, after four years in the role.
Hill’s departure, confirmed in a statement from Tourism Fiji, comes just days after the resignation of the organisation’s Chair, Andre Viljoen, from his separate role as Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways. Viljoen is set to join Air Mauritius in October 2025.
In the statement released by Tourism Fiji, Viljoen praised Hill as an “outstanding CEO and an inspirational leader” who had overseen a period of “significant transformation and growth.”
“Brent has left an enduring mark on Tourism Fiji and the wider tourism industry,” Viljoen said. “He has guided the organisation through a period of significant transformation and growth, particularly in the wake of the global pandemic.”
Under Hill’s leadership, Fiji achieved its highest-ever visitor arrivals, surpassing one million in a calendar year. His tenure also saw the launch of major global marketing campaigns, including Where Happiness Comes Naturally.
Tourism Fiji credits Hill with driving key sustainability initiatives, including the rollout of electric vehicles, the introduction of the Bin It or Bag It campaign, and the establishment of a renewable energy-powered office in Nadi. He also played a key role in supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), launching Tourism Super Week and creating a dedicated destination development team.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism Viliame Gavoka also paid tribute, acknowledging Hill’s impact on both the economy and Fiji’s global reputation.
Hill, an Australian national, will return home to settle with his young family. He first joined Tourism Fiji in mid-2021 after serving as Executive Director of Marketing at the South Australian Tourism Commission.
A search for Hill’s successor will begin shortly.
The announcement follows last week’s resignation of Viljoen from Fiji Airways after nearly a decade at the national carrier. He will assume the role of CEO at Air Mauritius later this year.
