Tavatavanawai makes All Black squad

June 23, 2025

Former Queen Victoria School student Timoci Tavatavanawai has made the New Zealand All Black squad to prepare for the 2025 Lipovitan-D July Series against France.

The announcement was made by NZ Rugby today.

Tavatavanawai’s inclusion along with Highlanders team mate Fabian Holland, Brodie McAlister and Ollie Norris from the Chiefs, Hurricanes Du’Plessis Kirifi and Christian Lio-Willie from the Crusaders, have all been described as hardworking by All Blacks coach Scott Robertson.

“Tavatavanawai’s physicality, agility and explosive power see him regularly breaking tackles, forcing turnovers and finding the tryline. His on and off the field leadership has been hailed by the Highlanders, who named him co-captain for the 2025 season.”

“This is a particularly special day. These players have all impressed us with their talent and work ethic and have earned their opportunity to be part of the All Blacks squad.”

“These players have all impressed us with their talent and work ethic and have earned their opportunity to be part of this All Blacks squad. We know that each of these players possesses the ability to make their mark in the black jersey and we look forward to working with them over the coming weeks.”
