Team Fiji is currently in 8th place at the Pacific Mini Games in Palau with three bronze and three silver medals.
Leading the charge after Day One of competition is Tahiti followed by Marshall Islands, Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands, New Caledonia, Cook Islands and Palau.
For team Fiji, Elenoa Vateitei grabbed a silver in V1 500m Open women’s final clocking a time of 2.38. Samoa’s Anne Cairns took the gold with a t time of 2.36. Raymond Rusivakula won bronze in the V1 500m Open Men’s final with a time of 2.25 and a team effort secured a bronze in the V12 500m race.
In swimming, Hansel McCaig won bronze in the 50m backstroke while Kelera Mudunasoko grabbed silver in the 200m breaststroke final.
The men’s swimming relay team of Reuben Taylor, Livai Raviko, Hansel McCaig and David Young finished 2nd in the 400m freestyle relay final adding a silver medal to Fiji’s tally.
