Reinforcing the importance of family, preserving culture and creating opportunities for people and communities is the heart beat of Pave the Way, a consultancy committed and focused on encouraging these principles Fiji.
Lead consultant and founder, Lite Seruvakula Daunabou said that with the ever evolving technology, the uncontrollable rise and use of hard drugs, getting back to the basics is crucial.
“Families is where it starts and ends. We need to be teaching our young people, the elders in family units that it is the family that this is the most important aspect of a community.”
Daunabou spoke of her late father’s advice of keeping the family unit sacred and strong.
“My father used to remind us all the time the importance of communication within families, of understanding and importantly of standing in the gap for one another.”
“My father taught me so many good things and one of the ones I hold close to my heart is that you must work hard, be there for one another and to be diligent.”
Her late father, Ratu Semi Seruvakula was an education pioneer and stalwart in the betterment of iTaukei students, serving as the principal of Queen Victoria School, a former politician and an advisor on matters about the indigenous advancement.
Pave the Way is currently conducting a pilot project, Training of the Trainers for it’s Strengthening Families and Community Program with retired civil servants, teachers, community leaders from the province of Tailevu.
Seruvakula, an alumnae of The Hubert H Humphrey Fellowship in the United States says the foundation is looking to provide essential support to Government, stakeholders and groups that want to help maintain safety and peace in Fiji.
