A senior FRCS official is the seventh person charged over the importation of more than four kilograms of methamphetamine seized at Nadi International Airport.
The official, who has not been named, was charged with one count of unlawful importation of illicit drugs and one count of breach of secrecy oath under the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service Act 1998. He is alleged to have leaked confidential information obtained through his position at FRCS.
He is scheduled to appear before the Nadi Magistrates Court today.
The seven people charged include two police officers and a foreign national, all of whom were arrested in earlier phases of the joint operation by the Fiji Police Force and FRCS.
The arrests followed a controlled delivery carried out after methamphetamine was detected in a consignment originating from Southeast Africa during routine screening at the airport.
Authorities have not ruled out further arrests.
