Fifty years ago a handful of missionaries from The Salvation Army began the church’s work in Fiji, and grew it to what it is today, a beacon of hope and respite for many families and individuals around the country.
The Salvation Army is both a church and a social service ministry having safe homes for women in the major centres of Fiji, youth intervention programs, street ministry with a particular passion for reaching out to the men and women incarcerated in Fiji’s prisons.
To celebrate this achievement, the church is having a series of events leading up to the main events on the weekend at the Vodafone Arena.
The international head of the Salvation Army, General Lyndon Buckingham along with his wife Commissioner Bronwyn are among special guests to attend the event.
The Salvation Army has a church and centre in almost every town in Fiji.
