Ritesh Dass to join Basic Industries as CEO

Fiji’s former Permanent Secretary Agriculture Ritesh Dass will join Basic Industries from next month, replacing Mosese Volavola as chief executive officer.

Dass will join the Fijian Holdings Limited subsidiary from 1 October; the announcement comes three days after Fiji’s Public Service Commission announced his departure from government.

Confirming the news of his appointment, FHL said Dass’ immediate task “is to turn around the BIL Group which includes Standard Concrete and Hume Industries.”

Dass previously served as CEO for British American Tobacco in the Solomon Islands and Fiji prior to joining the public service as PS Agriculture in 2019.

His appointment is one of three key selections announced by FHL today – the other two include the appointment of Naibuka Saune as CEO for Merchant Finance and Tanya Nacagilevu as FHL Group Manager Human Resources.

Saune is currently the Head of Mergers and Acquisitions at the Amalgamated Telecom Holdings (ATH) and will link up with Merchant Finance in December. Nacagilevu who held similar roles for British American Tobacco and Digicel Central starts with the parent company on 4 October.
