An official vehicle of the Fiji Parliament was involved in a road accident earlier today on Rewa Street, Suva.
In a statement issued this afternoon, the Parliament Secretariat confirmed the incident. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Footage obtained by MaiTV from the scene shows a two-vehicle collision, with an oncoming vehicle veering into the opposite lane before crashing into the Parliament vehicle. The collision occurred along a busy stretch of Rewa Street.
Police were seen attending to the crash site shortly after the incident. It remains unclear at this stage whether there were any injuries or fatalities as a result of the accident.
The Parliament Secretariat has stated it is cooperating fully with law enforcement as part of standard investigative procedures.
“We are currently awaiting the official Police report, which will provide a thorough assessment of the circumstances,” the Secretariat said.
The Police have yet to release an official statement on the accident, but investigations are ongoing.
