Mosese Naura, who played for the Seattle Barbarians during the recent Coral Coast 7s in Sigatoka captured the attention of national coach Osea Kolinisau and has been included in the national training squad.
After a sterling performance against the Fijian Drua 7s side at the tournament in Sigatoka two weeks ago, many also called for his inclusion into the national team.
Kolinisau described Naura as ‘raw talent’ with a speed and style that will add value to the side.
“This kid is raw and when I say that I mean that he is very fast. Joji (Nasova) and a few others along with the training coaches are working with him on bettering some aspects of his game just to add to the speed he already posseses.”
“Once he gets that going he can make the team for the upcoming tournaments.”
Kolinisau recapped the game against South Africa in the quarter finals of the Perth 7s last weekend saying they lacked communication on the field.
“During that game we could hear the South African team talking on the field but our boys were not communicating. Crucial plays, decisions made that cost us that game, with that result.”
“We’re going to work now to better that bit and take each game as it comes.”
The Vancouver leg of the HSBC 7s series will take place from February 21 – 23.
