Names of 30 Proposed Party Names Ahead of Fiji 2026 Election

The Fijian Elections Office has confirmed a list of 30 proposed political party names reserved ahead of the 2026 General Election.

The names reflect a broad mix of ideologies, ranging from faith-based and nationalist to youth-driven and reform-focused platforms. Among them are Fiji Constitutional Conservative Party, Liberation of Fiji Party, NextGen Alliance Fiji, One United Republican (OUR), Transparency Under System Transformation (TRUST), and Theocracy of Nation.

Also appearing on the list are Servant of All Party (SOAP), Kingdom Fiji, The Lion of Judah Party, Social Justice Pro-Democracy Party, and National Greens Party.

The 16 new party name applications had been received since April, adding to the 14 recorded earlier, bringing the total to 30.

While not all will proceed to full registration, the increase in applications points to growing political activity in the lead-up to the election, which may be called as early as August 2026.

Under Fiji’s Electoral Act, reserving a party name is the first formal step toward registration. Parties must then submit 5,000 valid signatures and meet financial and constitutional requirements.

Fiji currently has seven registered political parties: the People’s Alliance, SODELPA, National Federation Party, Fiji Labour Party, Unity Fiji, All People’s Party, and We Unite Fiji Party.

If all 30 new reservations lead to formal registration—and no existing parties deregister—Fijians could face a record number of political choices at the next election, the most since the adoption of the 2013 Constitution.

Party name reservations and registrations remain open until the election writ is issued, which may occur any time between 24 June and 24 December 2026. Depending on that date, polling will take place between 7 August 2026 and 6 February 2027.
