Man face court today over obscene publication and confinement of youths

A man in his late 30s charged for his alleged involvement in an incident where two youths were forced to perform sexual acts because they damaged “his personal items” will appear before a magistrate court in Lautoka today.

The incident, a video of which has been widely shared on social media, happened earlier in the year, Fiji Police say.

The accused who police also say works as a security officer “allegedly committed the offences as a means to punish the two.”

“The suspect…and others forcefully took the two victims to an empty shed outside his home and forced them to perform sexual acts.”

The accused has been charged with two counts of wrongful confinement, two counts of sexual assault and one count of trafficking obscene publication. Investigations continue into the involvement of others.
