Two television stations today received Public Service Broadcast Grants from Government.
Mai TV Fiji Limited and Fiji Television Limited today signed their agreements with Government as part of the grant allocated in the 2024-2025 National Budget.
“Fiji Television and MaiTV officially signed the Public Service Broadcast (PSB) Grant agreement today, unlocking new opportunities to produce and broadcast health-focused and informative content.”
“A total budget of $10.4 million was allocated for Public Service Broadcast Grant in 2024-2025 National Budget for both radio and television, from which Fiji Broadcasting Corporation was allocated its share and a tender was called for the remaining sum for both radio and TV.”
Assistant Minister of Information Aliki Bia said more local content addressing various communities and issues will now be possible with the grants.
“Through the grant, the two television companies will produce and broadcast local content that is informative and educational for the benefit of the general audience.”
“Content that promotes wellness and healthy lifestyles, sports, both major and minor sports, as well as rural and maritime development will now be possible under this PSB Grant agreement,” he said.
With the PSB grant for television broadcast signed, focus will now shift to finalising the tender for the radio component.
