Lagoon Resort Likely to Host GCC 2024 Meeting

The Great Council of Chiefs is likely to convene its first meeting of 2024 at the Lagoon Resort in Pacific Harbour later this month.

The meeting scheduled for February 28-29 will be the GCC’s first meeting since the cabinet’s endorsement of the iTaukei Affairs (Great Council of Chiefs) Regulations 2024.

Approved at its recent cabinet meeting, the regulation outlines provisions to ensure the GCC also known as the Bose Levu Vakaturaga (BLV) carries out its functions.

The regulation also provides for the composition of the GCC, among other things as well as the Permanent Secretary for iTaukei Affairs to serve as the council’s secretary.
