Heavy rain warning remains

March 2, 2021

Occasional rain, heavy at times, and a few thunderstorms are expected to persist across the country until later today.

Accordingly, the Fiji Met Office has maintained warnings of heavy rain across the group, flood alerts for low lying areas and strong wind warnings for certain parts of the country.

The weather phenomenon is expected to ease from later today when a low-pressure system currently lies to the West of the group starts to drift away, paving the way for mixed weather of fine and cloudy periods across Fiji from tomorrow.

The outlook for the western division indicates that Sigatoka will experience fine weather and afternoon showers from Wednesday through Sunday while cloudy periods, afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms are predicted for the rest of the division for the same period.

In the eastern division, fine weather with brief showers will prevail through Sunday. For the same period, the northern and central divisions will experience a mix of both – cloudy periods and some showers in the interior and northern parts and elsewhere, fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and a few thunderstorms.
