Flood warning as heavy rain continues; Authorities urge care as school year resumes

The National Disaster Risk Management Office has cautioned against unnecessary movement as heavy rain continues in most parts of Fiji.

With the school year due to resume tomorrow, the NDRMO says flooding is possible in areas where the rain is expected to be heaviest.

This includes the Northern division, Yasawa, Lau, Lomaiviti, Rakiraki, Tailevu, Suva, Pacific Harbour, Serua and Namosi.

NDRMO states that flash flooding in low lying areas is expected, rivers, crossings and roads are also expected to be under flood waters if the rain continues overnight.
