Fijian Drua Coach Son Takes on League with Father’s Support

Lanky Gospel High School rugby league player, Alifereti Cawanibuka is raring to try his hand at the 13-man game, opposite to the code his father and Fijian Drua strength and conditioning coach, Nacanieli Cawanibuka specialises in.

At the launching of the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League tournament at the Vodafone HQ in Suva today, young Cawanibuka says his father has encouraged him to give the games and tournament his best.

“My mum wasn’t too happy with me playing rugby league because she’s worried that I’ll get hurt but my Dad has encouraged me and said for me to play clean and fair rugby and to give it my best since this is the first time I’m playing.”

Round 1 of the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League (FSSRL) competition, scheduled to start tomorrow, has been canceled for both zones due to adverse weather conditions.
