May 2, 2025

A man and a woman are expected to appear in court today after being charged with drug offences and possession of more than $20,000 in suspected criminal proceeds.

The pair were arrested during a joint operation by Fiji’s Southern and Central Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit, the Police K9 Unit, and the Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU) on April 29 at a residence in Laucala Beach.

According to police, a search warrant was executed at the property, where K9 officers detected substances later confirmed to be methamphetamine and marijuana. A further search uncovered more than $20,000 in cash, believed to be linked to criminal activity.

The two individuals face one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs and one count of possession of property believed to be proceeds of crime.

They will appear at the Nadi Magistrates Court, where all court proceedings are currently being held.
