Fiji Police are now investigating potential negligence in the death of a 2-year-old girl in a fire at Vunikoka Settlement in Seaqaqa.
Initial findings by the National Fire Authority point to the deceased’s 3-year-old sibling playing with matches, prompting concerns about the children being left alone while their parents were at the hospital.
The house sustained 90 percent damage. Investigators are working to determine the fire’s probable cause.
