Fiji Police are investigating two cases of fire at properties owned by Digicel Fiji yesterday.
The first incident was reported by a company engineer who discovered a damaged and burning cable at their tower in Flagstaff. The second report came from a Nabua Police officer who noticed a tower along Ratu Mara Road on fire while on patrol.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime, Sakeo Raikaci said that the investigation team, led by Divisional Crime Officer Southern, is working to apprehend those responsible for damaging the infrastructure.
The fire caused network disruptions in the Suva CBD, Domain, Flagstaff, Samabula, Laucala Bay, Grantham Road, Nasese, Vatuwaqa, Rifle Range Nabua, and Laucala Beach. Since, then services have been restored in most areas except Flagstaff, Vatuwaqa (Fletcher Road + Jai Ambamma Road), Nabua, Domain (Queen Elizabeth Drive) and Rifle Range.
Digicel Fiji has not disclosed the specific extent of the damage or the financial impact resulting from the incidents. However, in a statement shared on their Facebook page, Digicel Fiji has assured that their teams are diligently working day and night to restore services in the affected areas.
