A 9-year-old boy who was reported missing from his Tubou village home in Lakeba, Lau was found floating at the village foreshore this week.
The incident prompted calls from Fiji Police to parents and guardians to be aware of their children’s whereabouts and activities.
It is unclear how long the child was missing before his body was found on Monday afternoon.
“The incident is being investigated by officers at the Lakeba Police Station. A post mortem will be conducted as investigations continue,” police said.
The drowning death toll stands at 31 compared to 38 for the same period last year.
