Fiji’s Health Ministry has declared a dengue fever outbreak in the Western Division, with 200 cases reported this year, mostly among 10 to 29-year-olds.
In a statement, the ministry confirmed that case numbers have exceeded expected levels. A Dengue Action Plan is in place, with health teams actively monitoring the situation and trained response teams ready to act.
“Divisional health teams have been alerted to the rising number of dengue fever cases to encourage early recognition, treatment, and referral as needed,” the Ministry stated. “Divisional and sub-divisional outbreak response teams are also trained to investigate and respond effectively.”
The public is urged to take preventive measures, stay informed, and seek medical attention early if symptoms develop.
