Fiji Electoral Commission Enhances Role Alignment in Induction Workshop

The members of Fiji’s Electoral Commission are currently attending an induction workshop aimed at helping them become familiar with and align their roles more effectively, ultimately serving the interests of all Fijians.

Lawyer Barbara Malilmali who has been confirmed as the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, welcomed the attendees, including the newly appointed commissioner, Dr. Atu Emberson-Bain.

Malilmali said that as appointees of the President of the Republic of Fiji, it is essential for them to understand and carry out their duties in accordance with their roles, particularly as outlined in Section 75 of the Constitution. She said that the workshop would facilitate this alignment.

Malilmali also thanked the New Zealand Electoral Commission (NZEC) for organising and conducting the workshop, which is scheduled to conclude tomorrow. With the appointment of Dr. Atu Emberson-Bain, the Electoral Commission now comprises its full complement of seven members.
