Fiji’s 55-member parliamentarians will convene in Suva today, for their first meeting since being elected, for an induction programme as part of preparations for the start of the new parliamentary session.
The programme scheduled for the Grand Pacific Hotel is aimed at preparing members for the first sitting of Parliament.
Section 67(1) of the Fijian Constitution provides that after a General Election of Members of Parliament, the Parliament shall be summoned to meet by the President no later than 14 days after the announcement of the results of the General Election.
