The coalition party of People’s Alliance, National Federation Party, and SODELPA maintains that their partnership remains intact as they seek to finalise the terms of their agreement.
This is despite SODELPA reconvening another management board meeting, likely to take place this Friday, after the result of the initial vote of 16-14 that led to the current multi-party formation was deemed null and void.
Addressing the media following their meeting at the Tanoa Plaza in Suva last night, PA Deputy Leader Manoa Kamikamica, NFP President Pio Tikoduadua and SODELPA candidate Jope Koroisavou expressed confidence that the outcome would be in their favour as they work towards finalising their coalition agreement.
“Basically, the PA, NFP/SODELPA coalition realises that forming of government is of the essence, so today we were finalizing the coalition agreement and happy to report that it is done, and it is in the hands of the leaders to have a look,” Mr Kamikamica said.
“SODELPA will have their own approval process tomorrow, and hopefully we will have an actual coalition agreement ready and signed.”
Mr Tikoduadua said: “We are happy, it is now in the hands of our leader, there is no problem for us in that regard.
In SODELPA’s case, Mr Koroisavou said: “We are working very closely to get that resolved.”
MPs of the coalition have also drawn up a letter undersigned by all, pending three whose names were not disclosed, to President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere to advise him that the coalition is ready to form government.
