For Fiji Bulikula captain Talei Holmes and vice captain Teaghan Hartigan running onto the HFC Bank stadium in front of the home crowd tomorrow evening is something that they will cherish.
“It’s always special to play in front of the home crowd. And so tomorrow will be an exciting game knowing people have come out to support us.” Holmes said.
“I’m looking forward to playing on home soil and in front of family too.” added Hartigan.
For the 28 year old, making it to the Bulikula continues to be a blessing.
“I have four children so it’s always a challenge to be a Mum, maintain my fitness and game amongst other things and I am very grateful to my spouse for alwyays supporting me in my game by being there for the kids.”
“Being in the Bulikula is something I count as sacred and I hold it close to my heart.”
On their opponents from the Cook Islands, the duo said they expected big hits from their forwards.
“They will definitely hit us hard in the middle but we have been working on how to counter that with our equally strong mid section pack.”
Holmes plays for the Cronulla Sharks in the NRL Women’s Premiership and the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in the NSWRL Women’s Premiership while Hartigan plays out the Queensland Rugby League.
The game between Fiji Bulikula and Cook Islands Moana will kick off at 6.10pm as the curtain raiser for the Vodafone Fiji Bati versus Cook Islands Aitu clash at 8.10pm.
This is also the first time that there will be a double header with the Vodafone Fiji Bati and the Bulikula in Fiji.
