FEO Dismisses Complaint Against Ro Teimumu Kepa

The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) has dismissed a complaint against Ro Teimumu Kepa, finding she did not breach the Political Parties Act.

She had resigned from the boards of Airport Fiji Limited and the Tertiary Services and Loans Scheme, complying with the act, Acting Registrar of Political Parties and Acting Supervisor of Election Ana Mataiciwa says.

The complaint, filed by an anonymous person on October 20, alleged that her appointment to a public office conflicted with her membership in the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA).

Mataiciwa confirmed that after conducting an independent analysis, the FEO ascertained that Ro Teimumu Kepa had indeed fulfilled the Act’s requirements, particularly in compliance with section 14(1), which forbids public office holders from holding membership in a registered political party.

Mataiciwa also re-emphasised FEO’s role in upholding the Act and warned of referral to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) for violations.
