FENC Fiji Launches New Website to Boost Child Education Support Scheme

October 21, 2024

The Foundation for the Education of Needy Children in Fiji (FENC Fiji) has unveiled a redesigned website to enhance its Child Education Support Scheme (CESS), which supports the country’s most disadvantaged children.

Since 2009, FENC Fiji has supported over 32,000 children providing them with vital resources, including scholarships, tutoring and school supplies.

Shenal Harakh, Founder of Sunset Studio, said that the revamped site simplifies access to information and application forms, aiming to reach more families.

“It was an absolute pleasure to deliver a digital home for FENC Fiji in time for the Child Education Support Scheme launch,” Harakh said.

FENC Fiji aims to make education accessible to underprivileged children, helping them escape poverty.

Head of Operations Nirmala Nambiar highlighted the programme’s role in addressing financial barriers that hinder educational continuity.

“Our vision is about making education accessible to the poorest of the poor children of Fiji, enabling them to break the cycle of poverty and become resourceful citizens,” Nambiar said.

“This programme is seen as one of the most effective ways to address the high school dropout levels as well as eradicate the issue of poverty affecting the families of children caught in this poverty web.”

The CESS supports children in Years 1 to 13 with essentials like uniforms and textbooks. Families can apply via new applications or reviews for ongoing support, and school packs are distributed before the school year begins.

The organisation seeks partnerships with businesses and individuals to ensure sustainability.
