Family of Fiji boxer Ubayd Hader still awaiting answers

January 22, 2025

The family of deceased Fiji boxer Ubayd Hader formerly known as Nathan Singh are still waiting for answers and results from a Government who had investigated the death of the boxer in November last year.

Speaking at a press conference in Suva, older brother Sebastian Singh said the family wants closure and are seeking answers from authorities.

“We have met with the investigating team from the Ministry of Youth, we have shared the evidence that we hold. We are just waiting now.”

Family lawyer Avinesh Reddy said it was only right that the family be given proper closure and have their questions answered.

“Someone has to answer to this. A young family was robbed of their father. They (FBC) can’t keep saying that the cause of death was from old injuries because we have evidence that suggests otherwise.”

Singh died at Lautoka Hospital after 16 days after he lost in the IBO Asia Pacific Super Heavyweight title fight against Australian based Chinese boxer Runqi Zhou.

Singh collapsed after exiting the ring and was rushed to the Lautoka hospital where he underwent emergency brain surgery.
