A match that was scheduled to be played between England and the Fiji Bati in mid-October has been moved to next year.
Match organisers Rochdale Hornets confirmed the news in a recent statement, stating that the match which was meant to serve as a warm-up to this year’s Rugby League World Cup, had to be moved following the postponement of the world event.
An agreement in principle is now in place between Rochdale Hornets, the Rugby Football League and Fiji Rugby League for a fixture to be played at the Crown Oil Arena in the run-up to the RLWC in 2022. A date for the rearranged fixture is yet to be confirmed, the statement read.
Rochdale Hornets CEO, Steve Kerr said: “Work can now continue to make the England v Fiji game an incredibly special event for all fans, and I thank the thousands of people who have already purchased tickets, hospitality and sponsorship for their support, patience and understanding.”
The RLWC2021 was postponed after Australia and New Zealand pulled out of the event for reasons relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.
