“Even though the numbers were not as much as those that would come watch the men’s team, we are so grateful for each and everyone that came to watch and support our game.”
Those were the words of Bitila Tawake who captained the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua women’s side to a win in the match against the Brumbies yesterday in Lautoka.
Tawake, who was subbed midway into the game also expressed her gratitude to the team who she says stuck to the game plan.
“These girls played their heart out and I am so proud of them. It was crazy final 5 minutes but they stuck together and it was a team work to get that final try in even those the time was up.”
The side got in three tries, one a piece to Vika Matarugu, Vitaline Naikore and Salanieta Nabuli with Luisa Tisolo kicking through conversions.
Half back Setaita Railumu said the game was a tough one.
“They gave us a good match and they also showed us what we need to be working on next week as we prepare for our next game.”
The side take on Western Force at the HBF Park in Perth on March 23.
