Dr. Raijeli Taga to Take Over as Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister

Dr Raijeli Taga has been named the new Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) in Fiji, according to the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Dr. Taga is finishing off her current role as Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources. She will move to her new role, which she will take up in an acting capacity, in two weeks. During this time, she will work with her successor at the Ministry of Lands, Paula Cirikiyasawa, before taking over her duties at the OPM.

PSC Chairman Luke Rokovada shared the details in an interview in Suva today.

Until Dr. Taga assumes her new position, Parmesh Chand PS for Ministry of Civil Service will manage the office. Dr. Taga will replace Pita Wise, who resigned last week citing personal reasons.

The announcement of Dr. Taga’s new role comes after Wise, the previous Permanent Secretary for the OPM, resigned last week for personal reasons. In a press statement issued last Thursday, Wise, who had served as Permanent Secretary since January 2023, was praised for his 30 years of service to the government.
