Fiji recorded 81 new coronavirus infections and 12 deaths including nine positive patients who died with COVID-19.
With 57 patients having recovered during the period, active cases stand at 12,881 while the number of COVID positive patients who have died from the virus has increased to 1095 since March 2020 or 1093 since the outbreak in April this year.
There have been 50,883 cases during the outbreak that started in April 2021, and a total of 50,953 cases since the first case was reported in March 2020.
Deaths
Three COVID-19 deaths to report for the period of 24 July – 5 September. All three COVID-19 deaths were reported from the Central Division.

- He presented to a medical facility in severe respiratory distress. A medical team retrieved him from the medical facility and transferred him to the CWM Hospital where he died on 5 September, 16 days after admission
There have now been 624 deaths due to COVID-19 in Fiji, with 622 of these deaths during the outbreak that started in April this year. A further 471 COVID-19 positive patients died from the serious medical conditions that they had before they contracted COVID-19; these are not classified as COVID-19 deaths.
Vaccination
To date, 592,242 or 95.8 per cent of the eligible adult population in Fiji of 618,173 have received their first dose of the vaccine and 448,128 or 72.5 per cent have received their second dose.
