Commission retains Saneem to preside over Fiji’s 2022 Election

Mohammed Saneem will manage Fiji’s 2022 elections, his third consecutive term in office, unlike Viniana Namosimalua whose term as acting Secretary-General to Parliament was not renewed.

Fiji’s Constitutional Offices Commission reappointed Saneem for five years but has readvertised the post of Secretary-General to Parliament.

Jeanette Emberson who holds the position of Deputy Secretary to Parliament has taken over Namosimalua’s post, effective from January 12, in an acting capacity until a permanent appointment is made.

The commission also recently advertised the posts of head of military, police and corrections.

Saneem’s reappointment was one of three announced yesterday by the commission which also retained the make-up of the human rights and anti-discrimination (HRADC) and public service (PSC) commissions.

Reappointed to the HRADC are Acting Chief Justice Kamal Kumar as chairperson, as well as Lanieta Tuimabu, Nicole Daniels, Sureni Perera, and Pravesh Sharma.

Vishnu Mohan returns as chair of PSC which include Nesbitt Hazelman, Nikita Patel and Shaenaz Voss.
