The refurbishment of Suva’s CWM is a step closer from beginning after Australia’s Foreign Minister Penny Wong today announced the awarding of the Master Plan tender to international development company, Johnstaff International Development.

Speaking at CWM Hospital today, Wong said the Australian government was going to continue to commit to help Fiji’s health care system.

“When Fiji asked for our support for health care through a master plan for this hospital we listened and acted and today we’re delivering on what we promised.”

“Following a competitive procurement process Johnstaff International Development has been selected to deliver the CWM Hospital Master Plan in partnership with GHD Silver Thomas Stanley and International SOS Australiasia.”

Wong said Australia will also carry out urgent assessment on the current buildings at CWM to make sure they will still be able to carry out services.

“We have invested $14.7 million dollars to develop the Master Plan. Urgent engineering assessment of the existing buildings to ensure the hospital can continue to serve the people of Fiji while the Master Plan is being developed and completed.”

“We want to work with you to develop the health care system in Fiji.”
