Leung confirmed his dismissal to Mai TV but said he had no further comments at this stage.
Sources say Leung was dismissed via a one-line text message from the PM while he was in Hong Kong, and dismissal is related to the findings and recommendations of the FICAC COI report.
Action is also expected against members of the Judicial Services Commission (JSC) including senior judges and holders of senior judicial positions – based on indications of the recommendations of the COI report which is yet to be publicly released.
Mai TV understands some senior lawyers may also be charged or investigated.
Senior government ministers are also allegedly implicated.
Yesterday FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali was suspended pending investigations.
The decisions are expected to raise constitutional challenges and questions on the powers of the President, the JSC and the recommendations of the COI.
Prime Minister Rabuka has urged the public to be patient as they carefully map the implementation of the COI Report.
He say he wants to ensure that investigations are not prejudiced, the civil rights of accused persons are respected and the rule of law maintained.
