Absolute honor to represent Fiji at the Olympics: Young

Fiji’s swimming sensation to the Paris Olympics, David Young has described being at the Games as an honor.

The 19 year old Savusavu lad added that hearing that he had made it to the Olympics was a complete honor.

“I was so proud and honored to hear that I had made it, that I was going to represent my country Fiji to the Olympic Games and knowing I had also made my family proud made me happy.”

Juggling studies and sport continues to challenge Young to work hard.

“It can be overwhelming when you’re a student athlete, juggling studies and training so you gotta just work hard and manage everything well.” he said.

He has represented Fiji at the Pacific Games, the Commonwealth Games and many other international swimming meets including the World Aquatics Championships in Japan.

Young continues training at the Games village along with other athletes as the rest of the Fiji contingent arrive from the various preparation sites they have been in.
