Man fights for his life after a pine logging accident in Bua

A 27-year-old man is fighting for his life after a pine tree is believed to have fallen on him while he was logging in Lekutu, Bua two days ago.

Save Ratu, who is married is currently admitted at Labasa hospital.

His father Aporosa Rageci told Mai TV at Votua village that the accident has shaken the family.

“I am a pine logger and I’ve been doing the same trade for years. It’s a dangerous job and when I heard that my son had been hurt I was afraid that he had died.” Mr Rageci said.

Ratu Meli Rumasakea who was first to arrive at the scene described what he saw as scary.

“I’ve never seen anything like that, any injury like that. I took my t-shirt to tie around his thigh just so we could try and stem the flow of blood,” he said.
