Swimming stars Kelera Mudunasoko, a student of Natabua High School and Samuel Yalimaiwai secured a gold medal each last night in the 50m breaststroke finals at the Pacific Mini Games underway in Palau.
Fiji has climbed up to 7th place.
Tahiti continues to lead the medal tally with a haul of 23 gold medals. Samoa with 6 gold medals in in second place followed by Northern Mariana Islands, Marshall Islands, Palau then Federated States of Micronesia.
In the competition today, Thaddeus Kwong and Livai Raviko will compete in the Men’s 200m backstroke, Theola Kwong and Marseleima Moss in the women’s race. Reuben Taylor, Hansel McCaig and David Young feature in the 50m butterfly sprints while in the women’s category the trio of Charlina Simpson, Vivita Bai and Imelda Smith will compete.
Jeremiah Rova, Don Younger, Samuel Yalimaiwai will swim in the 100m breaststroke and Kelera Mudunasoko and Patricia Verebasaga will compete in the same event for the women’s category.
Both the women and men’s Va’a teams take to the water also while the archery team of Chaandvi Prasad, Kavi Gounder, Nathan Kirk and Patrick Nadan continue their games today.
Indoor volleyball also continues with the women taking on the ladies from the Nortern Mariana Islands while in the Para women’s table tennis will meet Tahiti.
