The Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre has called on Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to immediately remove Charan Jeath Singh from his cabinet over alleged bullying and disrespect, which the minister has declined to comment on.
In a strongly worded statement issued this week, FWCC Coordinator Shamima Ali accused the minister of displaying behaviour “unbecoming of a national leader.
“Anyone who does not treat Fijians with dignity and respect does not deserve to be
in national leadership,” she said.
The FWCC’s statement comes in response to a recent incident where Singh reportedly scolded the Acting Permanent Secretary for the Ministry for the absence of media coverage at the Lautoka mill 2025 crushing season opening.
Ali said the minister’s conduct constituted grounds for immediate dismissal.
“[It]…warrants immediate action by the Prime Minister,” she said.
She added that if any disciplinary measures were to be taken—whether against the Acting Permanent Secretary or the Minister—it must be done fairly and without bias.
Singh, approached for comment, said only: “No comments.”
