The President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu yesterday formally referred the FICAC COI report to Police for investigation, and Police have confirmed in a statement today that investigations have commenced.
In a statement yesterday Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu said they had completed their analysis of the report’s findings and sent to the Office of Prime Minister.
Police have not stated why the analysis was sent to the PM’s office.
Tudravu said today he and senior Police officers have met with FICAC Acting Commissioner Ms Lavi Rokoika to discuss the specific areas of investigation to be undertaken by the respective institutions, to avoid duplication, and ensure efficiency of the investigation process.
“I reiterate my assurance of the conduct of a thorough independent investigation by the team of senior investigators from the Criminal Investigations Department,” Tudravu said.
