Fiji’s Deputy PM Manoa Kamikamica has assured that the government is working with Vodafone to address the issues being faced with bus card services and that action is being taken.
The Minister summoned Vodafone to a meeting this morning to discuss the situation and rectify the issue.
“We assure the people of Fiji that this is a priority and we will ensure the issues faced are resolved urgently,” Kamikamica said.
“Vodafone has acknowledged the concerns and assured me that they are working on sorting out the issues.”
According to Kamikamica a number of issues were agreed to that government will monitor.
Vodafone are increasing resourcing at every agency to cater for the queues and will look at booking larger venues such as town halls so that people can sit down while waiting.
Vodafone will also display requirements for the new card more visibly so that people do not get turned away and there will now be priority lines for the elderly and persons with disabilities.
“The Ministry together with the Consumer Council are also monitoring the situation and we will track the rollout closely to ensure all the emerging issues are resolved,” Kamikamica said.
He also encouraged the public to use the Vodafone 155 hotline if they faced any issues.
There have been a growing number of frustrated complaints about the long lines, the slow service, the unclear and inconvenient process and transfer of balances with regards the bus card renewal.
