Minister for Public Works Ro Filipe Tuisawau has confirmed he has been appointed Acting Prime Minister until Thursday, while the Prime Minister is away, and will also act in the PM’s other portfolios.
“I have been assigned tasks by the Honorable Prime Minister to not only act as PM but also as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Civil Service, Public Enterprises and Information,” Ro Filipe told Mai TV.
It is understood the PM is on a personal visit to Australia.
Ro Filipe would not be drawn into questions and speculation as to why none of the current Deputy Prime Ministers were asked to act in the position.
“It is not my role to speculate,” Ro Filipe said.
“It is my duty to accept and perform as assigned which is what I have done and will continue in until Thursday.”
