FNRL to enforce disciplinary measures after brawl: Extra security for future meets

The Fiji National Rugby League will meet with both the Nabua and Topline clubs that were involved in a brawl that broke out during their match in round one of the Vodafone Cup challenge in Suva on Saturday.

FNRL Chairman Akuila Masi said the meeting will give the Clubs an opportunity to also share measures they will be taking with their own members also.

“The summary of violations include the foul play by Nabua and Topline players, retaliatory violence (kicking) by Topline player, unauthorized entry onto field by supporters, spectator incitement and verbal abuse and multiple player and supporter brawls.”

Masi reiterated that violence is not condoned by the FNRL hence the further collaborations with the Fiji Police for extra security.

“I urge you all out there who are rugby league supporters to come out and support the players and your teams. There will be additional security to help the games run smoothly.”

The second round of Vodafone Cup games take place this weeked in Suva.
