The government is holding discussions with key stakeholders to resolve the issue with the upgrading of the Lagidamu Farm Road in Wainunu in Bua.
Commissioner Northern’s office confirms that they have been made aware of the issue and are working on reaching a solution as soon as possible, with officials visiting the settlement today.
William Brown, spokesman for the group of farmers, made the plea via a social media post seeking urgent help from authorities for the upgrading of the Lagidamu Farm Road, in Vatuvatu.
“Year after year, we have been asking. We have had several visits from authorities, people have come and done surveys but till to date nothing has happened.”
“We have put in our own money to try and get it levelled to help us with taking our crops, especially our yaqona from our farms, up through the road to be able to get to the main road. And when it’s rainy season, it’s even worser.”
Brown said they wanted help with the road so that their children and families are able to continue farming.
