U.S. Ambassador to Fiji, Marie C. Damour, donated 14 laptops and a high-tech storage cabinet to the American Corner Suva at Carnegie Library today.
Damour said the donation reaffirms the U.S. Embassy’s commitment to promoting prosperity in the two countries.
“The American Corner is more than just a space with cool technology. It’s a place where people can meet and exchange ideas, express their opinions, develop new skills and make new friends. This donation, paired with our high-speed Starlink internet, will enable even more interactive learning experiences. The U.S. Embassy is committed to advancing opportunities for education and innovation in Fiji, and today’s donation of 14 laptops is just the latest example of that commitment,” she said.
American Corners are open-access community spaces supported by the U.S. Government that offer free resources to the public. From cutting-edge technology and internet access to dynamic programming, American Corner Suva has become a hub for learning and connection in the heart of the city. Since its opening, over 2,500 visitors have engaged in a wide range of activities.
Throughout the year, American Corner Suva provides regular programming for schools and the public on topics such as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), leadership, enhancing English teaching skills, digital literacy, and essential soft skills.
