The Serua Cagivou Youths 7s team will make their debut at the Marist 7s tournament this week, marking a historic moment for the young players from Serua Island.
The team received their jerseys in a special presentation ceremony held last night at Cagivou Supermarket in Kinoya, Nasinu.
Team Manager Romeo Madanawa was in high spirits, thanking the sponsors for their timely assistance.
“Most of our players in the village don’t work and turn to these activities. With this sponsorship towards us the mindset and attitude has changed and has given a new life to the unemployed youths around the village,” Madanawa said.
He also thanked the Vunivalu of Serua, Ratu Tevita Mara Latinara, for his continued support and blessings for the team.
Alan Kumar, General Manager of Cagivou Supermarket said: “Now it’s time for you as a team to go and accomplish your mission. Always stay disciplined, and remember to make your province proud.”
The Serua Cagivou Youths were presented with two sets of jerseys, Asics boots, water bottles, and a rugby ball as they gear up for their maiden appearance at the Marist 7s. The 3-day Marist 7s tournament starts tomorrow at the HFC Stadium in Suva.
